This course
provides the skills and knowledge to be a traditional pool lifeguard. This all-inclusive course includes COMMUNITY FIRST AID and CPR FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER. Certificates of completion are issued upon successful completion of course. Lifeguarding and First Aid certificate are valid for three years and a CPR for Professional Rescuer certificate is valid for two year. When Class is successfully completed you will be able to perform lifeguard skills at a traditional swimming pool.
PREREQUISITE: Must be 15 years of age or older BEFORE THE END OF CLASS. Participants must swim 300 yards continuously, consisting of 100 yards freestyle, 100 yards breaststroke, and 100 yards mixed freestyle and breaststroke. Additionally, applicants must retrieve a 10-pound brick from 10 feet of water, swim the brick 20 yards back to the side of the pool, and get out of the water without using the ladder or stairs. This must be completed in 1 minute 40 seconds.
There will be three written tests, applicants must successfully pass each test with 80% or higher.
There also will be a physical test of three water rescue scenarios.
There will be a fee for this class. Failure to pass pre-test will allow refund of full tuition fees. Failure of class will not allow a refund.
